Built all week. Burnt before dawn.
In Goa, Diwali starts the night before. Groups of friends in villages and towns spend days building a giant Narkasur, an effigy of the demon king, out of bamboo, paper and paint. It's paraded through the streets, then burnt before dawn on Narak Chaturdashi. Then it's Diwali.
